basildon and essex area diabetics
Hello folks! And welcome to the Basildon Area Diabetics Livejournal community for anyone who has experience of diabetes to enthuse, or grumble about their experiences (achieving a good HAb1c result, diabetic daughter in diabetic coma, diabetic brother accused of being drunk and disorderly, wifes first pregancy and finding she has gestantional diabetes, meeting another diabetic person, diabetic mum refusing to change cooking habits...)
Let me introduce myself ...
Type of diabetes: I have type 1 diabetes
Who has it: Me!
Date of diagnosis: Circa february 1991
Treatment: Novorapid and Lantus injections
Hates: HAb1c blood tests and bad hypoes
Likes: I love the new FreeStyle mini BM Kit
Trying/denying: In all the fifteen years I've had diabetes, I don't think I've ever really tried to manage the condition. I just done what was strictly neccessary ...I done my jabs and made sure I didn't hypo. I've never accepted that I have diabetes and that it's part of me for the rest of my life. I've never liked to think about it. But since starting on novorapid and lantus my blood sugars have lowered considerably and in recent years I've had to start taking control. I am trying.
